Description Edit | History

A rummy-like game with an element of "push your luck" and a Christmas theme. Players start with a card-drawing phase in which they try to draw as many cards as possible without drawing a duplicate. A player can stop and keep the cards at any time, but if a duplicate appears, the cards must be given out as gifts. After drawing cards, the player must lay down one set, scoring points. "Days of Christmas" provide a timing element.

Stocking Stuffers was intended as a 2004 Christmas gift to the gaming community by the author, and is available to play with a Creative Commons license.

3 Stocking Stuffers Variant Rule
This file describes a variant rule for the Stocking Stuffers game. You don't really need to download the file, you can just read this. If the player draws one card too many, such that there are two cards showing with the same face value, the cards must be given away as presents. The Stocking Stuffers rules say to give the cards in strict order to each player in turn. The variant rule is: in turn, going around the table, each player chooses any card from the drawn cards (starting with the player who who was drawing). Not only is it fun to be able to draw cards of your choosing to improve your chances of making a set, but now you can watch the other players and try to figure out what kinds of sets they are trying to make. You might even take a card that you don't want, just to deny it to another player. This rule adds depth to the game.
