Description Edit | History

Slapshot is a wheeling, dealing game for hockey nuts of all ages. Each participant in Slapshot assumes the role of a team manager. The object is to skillfully manage your team into the playoffs and then win the championship. During the regular season, you will be able to improve your team with trades and drafts. Injuries and luck will play a part, but it is your skill as manager that will guide your team to victory or defeat.

Contents: 1 gameboard, 66 Player cards, 1 Season log, 8 pawns, 1 die & rulebook

Phantoms of the Ice and Power Play are subsequent versions of this game with some different rules and new art by Doris Matthaus. Contents vary for these versions as well.

EXTRA RULES that are often used:

NON-SCORING GOALIES AND 1 DIE:
Goalies NEVER score goals.

When 2 goalies come up against each other in a game, there is no goal.

When a forward or defenseman comes up against a goalie in a game, the two players' numbers are compared. If the goalie's number is higher, no goal is scored. If the numbers are the same, the manager with the forward or defenseman rolls a die: if he rolls a "6" a goal is scored, if he rolls a "1-5" no goal is scored. If the forward or defenseman's number is higher, the manager rolls a die: if he rolls a "4-6" a goal is scored, if he rolls "1-3" no goal is scored.

TROLL (for Power Play and Phantoms of the Ice):
If Troll comes up against another bruiser, only the other bruiser is injured. Thus, only Tiny Tim/Willie Winzig can force Troll out of a game.

TINY TIM/WILLIE WINZIG (for Power Play and Phantoms of the Ice):
automatically scores against any goalie. TT/WW can not be injured. If he comes up against a Bruiser, the Bruiser is removed instead.

OPTIONAL SUBSTITUTE RULE
This variant for 4-5 players comes from Frank Nestel for those who believe that the game is too random:

Each player receives an extra defenseman & forward. (This variant expands the hand size to eight cards.) In a match, players can now decide which forwards & defensemen they will use. However, players are still restricted to the original lineup of 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie.
