Description Edit | History

First published by SPI and obviously inspired by Star Wars. Some of the character names are anagrams of SPI employees.

Freedom In The Galaxy is a medium complexity strategic and tactical game of galactic conquest. Can a small band a valiant rebels withstand the oppression of the mighty galactic empire?

The map board schematically represents over 30 solar systems. Unit types include armed forces, spaceships, imperial characters and individual rebels. The rebel play must start insurrections on various planets hoping to cause a domino effect and topple the empire's power base. The Imperial player must garrison planets, quash rebellion and conduct diplomatic missions to maintain a high loyalty factor. There are three levels of complexity to the game system. Combat is dice based and cross-referenced on a probability table.

The game consists of a map board, 140 character cards, 400 die cut counters, a galactic guide, numerous playing aids and a rulebook.

4 FITG race identification aid
This is a useful single sheet aid providing a large-scale schematic of all the races as they appear on the game map in the different Province locations. I condensed it from an article that appeared in "The General" originally by Frank Calcagno, Jr. I must confess that after having discovered this particular aid, I found it quite useful, indispensable, really, especially in the Galactic game. Don't leave your home planet without it!

3 Orlog map fix
This is a .gtl to fix the map temporarily. I'll redo the entire project once all errors are reported. Save this .gtl to your FitG folder. To load the .gtl, open CBDesigner, open FitG.gbx, go to "Tile Image Groups", open "Rebel", scroll down to the surplus military units, click on image in right-hand window, right-click to get pull-down menu, and click "Load Tile Library File". This'll give an image which you'll need to copy/paste at each zoom level into a 'spare' image (plain red, NOT Subterranean) to create the fix. Edit the map with this image and delete the .gtl you just loaded (not the image you placed on the map) and save the .gbx. Should keep more stable than adding .gtl image directly to map. F2

5 FitG Rules Compilation
Compilation of all rules (basic, Nick Palmer's Fix and Mission Cards) into one handy word doc. May still include typos and I had to wing Case 23.2 and 23.4 a bit, Nick's Fix was not clear on the issue.

Version 2.1 - Original SPI Map - Color Character Cards - Minor changes to enhance gameplay - Galactic Game Scenario Version 2.11 - Added a simple plain backside for possessions. Moved text to the backside; Now the imperial player can't mouse over Rebel posessions at will as before... unless the rebel player leaves them face up. 13 Galactic Guide II
An expanded and reorganized replacement for the original Galactic Guide. The main portion of this new version features a single page for each planet in the galaxy, listing everything you need to know when planning or conducting operations on that planet: races present, domino effect links, combat values for irate locals and creatures, presence of sovereigns and coup opportunities, characters with home planet status, characters with royalty status, etc. Also included are useful reference charts (some of which were originally published in Nicky Palmer's extensive article in the old Avalon Hill magazine, The GENERAL), the rules for the "balanced variant" from Palmer's article, and a slightly reorganized presentation of the various combat tables.
