(from the back of the box)

The Game

Legions of Steel is a fast paced miniatures combat game set in the not so distant future.

Save humanity from a siege of mechanical horrors. Play an elite group of Commandos in high tech powered armour on their missions to destroy the base complexes of the Overlord computer.

Meanwhile, your opponent maneuvers his horde of robotic minions commanded by ten feet of raw terror: the dreaded Mark I Assault Fiend.

The Rules

Mechanics are simple. Only six sided dice are required to quickly resolve firefights, but you need more than luck to survive.

With Blasters, Deadbolt Launchers, Kinetic Pulse grenades, and the Napalm-X Flame Weapon on the field of battle, tactical considerations are many. Before you out-fight your opponent, you must first out-think him.

(note that some links below connect to the external Legions of Steel wiki)

Legions of Steel is a tactical miniatures boardgame created by Clark Browning, Marco Pecota and Derrick Villeneuve. It simulates futuristic combat between the power-armoured U.N.E. troopers from Earth against endless numbers of robotic Nightmares, led by the dreaded Mark I Assault Fiends. Battles take place inside the labyrinthine corridors of the invading Machines' underground production facilities, which are simulated through the use of modular, interlocking tiles. Many expansions have been released detailing everything from new units to entire new factions, along with many optional rules for expanding the depth of gameplay.

Released Sets

There were two different revisions of the base game released. They are commonly differentiated by the colour of their box art. While each contained the same basic components, the miniatures, rules, and scenarios included differed significantly. A listing of their respective contents can be found under each version entry, linked to below.

Supplements

A large number of additional supplements were released for the game. These ranged in content from additional missions and new units, to more die-cut map templates for larger scenarios.

Factions

There were initially 2 playable factions included with the base game (the Machines and the U.N.E.), but this number was expanded to 5 with the release of the Alien Sourcebook. They are:
