Description Edit | History

Shogun / Samurai Swords is the last game in the original Milton Bradley Gamemaster series. It focuses on the chaotic feudal society of Japan during the Middle Ages. Players play one of several factions that erupt into a civil war, trying to consolidate their strongholds and then defeat other armies for the right to be called Shogun, the supreme ruler.

The game was originally published as Shogun and was later changed to Samurai Swords due to a name conflict with James Clavell's Shogun.

1 VP variant - two ways to win
Here is a simple variant for Samurai Swords that helps with those long games as well as addressing those player elimination situations. This variant was designed to be used in conjunction with the original Samurai Swords rules and it is not recommended that players use any other variant as this might offset the intended objective.

0 Shogun Koku Allocation Reminder
A word document with a picture of a player's "fortress" reminding them where to place their koku, what they're spending it on, and pertinent limits to their spending. Great for new players.

1 2 Player Variant (v.8)
A 2 player variant that I've played with a friend about 25 times. Some changes include smaller player start up, neutral player, tax rates, and new ninja implementation. I was doing a cleanup on the rules and figured I put it out so that others could enjoy our version and give feedback on how to improve it. We really enjoy this style of play for 2 players. If I get the time I think this could convert into a solid 3 player variant as well. Looking to first solidify the core rules
