Description Edit | History

The Titanic is sinking. Players must race around and rescue passengers from their state rooms and rush to the lifeboats before the ship sinks. After the ship sinks, you must get enough of food and water by visiting islands and/or drawing cards to stay alive until the rescue boat appears and the first one to make it there wins the game. The other lifeboats and all the other passengers in them are lost, leaving only the one victor and his passengers who are saved.

More Information Edit | History

This game was first released by Ideal and the title of The Sinking of the Titanic. In England, someone must have been offended because there was a ground swell of criticism. The objections centred around the fact that the Titanic name should not be used, in respect for the people who lost their lives on the ship in 1912. Ideal listened to these complaints and decided to take it off the market, only to immediately re-release it with the name Abandon Ship. The artwork, graphics inside and the game-play remained identical to the first version. Evidently, one must assume, that a general sinking ship game is not offensive. The Titanic version remains quite rare.

1 Optional "Hero of the Titanic" Resource Cards
Using Tjgames' excellent hero rules for the second part, I made some printable resource cards (instead of a standard deck of playing cards). They have some of the rules printed on them, to make remembering easier, and I tried to keep the art similar to the original, to make it all go together better. Just print it all out on card stock and cut them out.

8 Hero of the Titanic
Hero of the Titanic (ver.2) A variant for "The Sinking of the Titanic". This variant needs an original copy of "The Sinking of the Titanic" with its rules, a deck of 52 standard playing cards and this pdf (of course).
