Vikings is a fast economic game. Despite the nominal "Viking" theme, no actual exploration or pillaging is involved.
The resources in the game consist of coins and several types of ship tiles, island tiles and meeples. In each of 6 rounds, a random set of 12 tiles and 12 meeples becomes available. Players take turns buying and placing pairs of meeples and tiles. There is no direct player interaction, only indirect contention for resources during the buying phase.
The most unusual aspect of the game is the pricing wheel, which pairs meeples with tiles and sets their prices.
File contains SoloPlay rules to be able to play the game Vikings in a solo environment.
This variant employs an interactive AI as a competitor. The special tiles are used to enhance the play and to achieve the maximum variety in your games as possible. You won't see every tile in any one game.
There are 3 game level options integrated into the rules so that as you get better you will be able to make the play more challenging.
A setup and scoring example are included at the end of the rules to help in explaining a couple of the core mechanics in this variant.
Setup: 5 minutes / Playtime: 45-60 minutes

Once, when teaching Lancaster after not having played it in ages, I made a critical error that I didn’t discover until after the game. I said never again and since then I make a “Reminders” sheet for all of my games. The intent was not to cover all the rules but to make note of those little things that can be forgotten. Most of the Reminders start with the set-up and ends with the end of game conditions and scoring. I print them on cardstock and trim away the excess, making an easy to use sheet. They are also a good framework to use when teaching the games. If you click on my user name, then click on Contributions, then go down to Files you can check out my Reminders for all of my games. Enjoy.
Complete rules on a small double-sided sheet. Also a single-sided sheet for anyone without duplex printing – fold it in half if you like, exactly the same otherwise. Fits in the box either way. Main game, not the progress auction version.
A complete rules reference for Vikings. Print out and trim the edges. Fold in half and glue the halves together. Red colored text applies to the Progress version. Blue colored text applies to the basic game.
