In Agricola, you're a farmer in a wooden shack with your spouse and little else. On a turn, you get to take only two actions, one for you and one for the spouse, from all the possibilities you'll find on a farm: collecting clay, wood, or stone; building fences; and so on. You might think about having kids in order to get more work accomplished, but first you need to expand your house. And what are you going to feed all the little rugrats?
The rules include a beginner's version and an advanced version.
Agricola is a turn-based game. There are 14 game turns plus 6 harvest phases (after turn 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14).
Each player starts with two playing tokens (farmer and wife) and thus can take two actions per turn. There are multiple options, and while the game progresses, you'll have more and more: first thing in a turn, a new action card is flipped over.
Problem: Each action can be taken just once per turn, so it's important to do some things with high preference.
Each player also starts with a hand of 7 job cards (of more than 160 total) and 7 item cards (of more than 140 total) that he/she may use during the game if they fit in his/her strategy. Speaking of which, there are countless strategies, some depending on your card hand. Sometimes it's a good choice to stay on course, and sometimes it is better to react to your opponents' actions.

These 16 cubes are used to indicate how much of a certain resource is available on a space on the board. Cubes are placed on the appropriate resource space. In the replenishment phase, just turn all cubes over the same way. When a new resource space is revealed, put a cube on it with the 0 side up. When someone takes the resources on a space, turn the cube back to 0 and take the appropriate amount of resources from whereever the resources are kept (plano box). When, after three increases, the resources are still not taken, put a single resource token underneath the resource cube and turn the cube to 0 (and keep doing this for every time the cube goes to the max). This visually IDs the resource space as being loaded, and it differentiates this situation from resources left (for instance...
For us senior-citizen gamers, and others in the 'thick-eyeglass brigade', here are the rules for playing, starting and scoring, and using the cards of _Agricola_, in one Zip file, formatted to be printed out on 8.5x11 paper in 12-point type. Hope 'twill be more readable than the standard rulebook.

0.2:
Fixed score tables (I hope);
Fixed the Clean All error where you couldn't recalculate after cleaning the form;
Removed the total result from the form (it's buggy, need to figure out why);
Some minor bugs fixed.
Finished size: 5.5" x 8.5". Print double-sided onto same sheet, cut sheet in half, laminate, use dry-erase marker. Use pages 1-2 for a version including game name graphic, showing scoring on one side and round cards by stage on the reverse. Use pages 3-4 for a version showing round cards and scoring on both sides, no game name graphic.
With five players, a lot of table space is required for the five playing mats plus the boards in the middle of the table for the 14 rounds and 16 base actions. The idea of this set of images is to replace the central boards with smaller individual actions and rounds cards. The 10 action spaces on the boards have been converted into separate images. I've produced the 14 round backs in two different colours so it is easier to spot the harvest points. And in case you cannot remember the harvest order, a little harvest card has been created. If all the images are printed onto standard A4, the cards are approx 68mm x 44mm (Wings of War, St Petersburg size). I didn't produce images for the family version because I only tend to play the two player family version which means table space is not...
