Description Edit | History

This is an abstract strategy game where players are rolling place dice onto a 4x4 chess-board like area. One player has light dice and the other dark -- and similarly there are light and dark squares on the board. The player with the highest score in their dice on the opposite toned squares wins. The trick comes in that the dice are placed with a particular horizontal or vertical orientation, and that when a dice is placed, adjacent dice may be converted if the facing side of the new die is higher in value than the facing side of the original die. Also, to give a bit more strategic depth, players may store up to 3 dice that they don't like the rolls on -- and may use one of these instead of rolling on any turn. But, they must use all the stored dice by game end.

The description section mentions: "Full rules at: http://www.luchacabra.com/?p=35"

On 9/18/2011 that link was broken. Can't find server http://www.luchacabra.com/ either.

Did find following rules at;

Equipment:

A Chessboard
Several 6-sided dice, in 2 colors (light & dark)

On his turn, the player rolls a die and places it on a space within a 4x4 grid in the middle of a chessboard. After the roll, the player can set aside the die if he doesn't like the result (up to 3 dice can be 'stored' this way.) Dice in the store can be placed on the player's turn instead of rolling a die.

If you place the die in a space horizontally or vertically adjacent to an opponent's die, check the numbers on the two dice that are facing each other. Not the numbers on top of the dice, the numbers on the sides of the dice that are adjacent to each other. If your side-number is equal to or lower than your opponent's side-number, nothing happens. If the side-number on your die is greater, your opponent's die is converted to your color.

Continue placing dice and converting die colors in this manner until all the spaces in the 4x4 area are filled. Once this occurs, the game is over and the players tally their scores (players only count points from dice in their color space -- either dark or light, depending on the player.) Highest score wins.
