Description Edit | History

The Guns of Gettysburg is a simulation of the largest battle of the American Civil War. Like Bowen Simmons's previous games, Bonaparte at Marengo and Napoleon's Triumph, The Guns of Gettysburg uses a diceless and cardless system for governing movement and resolving combat. Units in the game are represented by linear blocks rather than the traditional hex and counters, giving the game an appearance that evokes 19th-century battlemaps.

The Guns of Gettysburg has simple rules and fast play but still reflects the historical limitations of the actual conflict. Though it preserves the aesthetics and "fog of war" mechanisms of Bonaparte at Marengo and Napoleon's Triumph, The Guns of Gettysburg is neither a sequel nor a successor to either game but a wholly new system of its own.

17 Flatten the Learning Curve Rules Summary
First attempt at getting all rules into play-through order. This has been a bit of brain burner, so any comments/corrections would be greatly appreciated. Hope it helps in getting into the game.

These are the designs you will need to make the trays to both armies. Print at full size (A4 will sufice) You have to print all pages: Page 1 -Confederate army base Page 2 - Union army base Page 3 - Confererate army top and screen during play Page 4 - Union army top and screen during play You will also need to cut 8mm high K.line (3 mm thick) for the outside walls (4) plus one to hold the screen during play and 6mm for all the other divisions. 2 General Orders Cards by BGM
These cards are designed with dark ink fonts in order to remain somewhat authentic. So to distinguish between the three different types of orders, print each on different colored paper. Designed for mounting to cardboard or thin plywood. (They do not come with a back). See the picture in the comments before downloading. One page PDF. v1.0

7 Guns of Gettysburg General order cards
Two sided General Order cards. Couple of things added to Rochelle's and Lockwood's versions. Backside graphics added and slightly different frontside as well. Here are the cards, I used 59mm*92mm sleeves (cutted leftovers) for those and put another card (between prints) to make those thicker. https://boardgamegeek.com/image/2405295/guns-gettysburg

15 Guns of Gettysburg Turn Summary
A turn summary with the primary feature of breaking the four types of movement into 4 separate sub-phases. Each section contains all rules concerning that type of movement. Note that the Attack procedure is broken out in its own 3 page guide. Lastly, there is a "General Orders" summary page that players can mark with leftover blocks to track their current General Orders.

11 Order of Battle
(Version 1.2) This is a listing of the respective Union and Confederate Order of Battle and command structure at the Battle of Gettysburg. An educated guess was made as to the identity of the Brigades/Divisions associated with each block. The sheet identifies several well known units not included in the game that participated in the battle, including the Texas Brigade (aka Hood's Brigade), the Stonewall Brigade, the Louisiana Tigers, the Irish Brigade, the Bucktail Brigade, and the 20th Maine (Chamberlain's regiment). Thanks to Paul Roberts & Brian (furyn) for pointing out a few errors. They are fixed in this version.
