Description Edit | History

COLORS – the new two person strategy game by MAG (creators of CAVEMAN) - is very simple in its mechanics.

Colors is a 10 minute light-hearted game between two beginners, but becomes a 40 minute intellectual tussle when played by two COLORS “Grandmasters”

Each player has 12 pieces, 3 of each primary color (the game is environment friendly). These pieces are moved around a diamond shaped board made up of triangles, and there is no luck involved.

You take opponents pieces by creating triangles of the 3 primary colors – taking 1 piece if using two of your pieces to complete the triangle, or 2 opposing pieces if you make a triangle using only 1 of your pieces (the elusive “Double Take”).

Combine several mini-strategies to win the game – The Wall, The Blitz, The Raid, the Single take, the Double Take. There is lots to think about.

Despite this the game has just a single page of rules – nothing more to it than that – and has this in eleven difrferent languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Japanese)

COLORS launched at Essen and was much liked by many testers. Two stayed a full 3 hours on site trying to figure out the subteties of the game (playing several games), photographed their final positions and then took two copies home to play some more!!

A challenge was run to see if anyone could beat inventor (SIMON HALL). There were 5 failed challenges on the first 3 days, but on the final day the 6th challenger managed to win a game and a free box set (and also bought another one). Did fatigue play a part we wonder! Congratulations to the dutch man concerned - and more details will follow.

Revised translations will be appearing here on the geek and on the MAG website at www.makeagame.eu shortly.

There was much interest in a competition for Spiel 09 and we will be considering that.

SAH

For those who bought the game .... We have a fun variant that m,ight interest you for the light hearted and younger players. Roll an AVERAGE DICE showing 2,3,3,4,4,5 for the number of moves you have each time. This has proved popular with kids under 12 and for light-hearted play.
