No known designer is probably correct, but, in the first edition, Pepys included a copy of a letter from Enid Blyton to her fans who might have this game. She writes "Dear Children, This is a new card game that I have made up especially for you. You know the story of the Faraway Tree, don't you - well, this is the game to go with it. When you have finished the game you will have the story of the Faraway Tree set out in your cards, in front of you. I hope you will like playing the game - Let me know if you do." Grammar and punctuation marks exactly as written. And she has her address at the top of the letter. No hiding behind a sea of security checks and cameras in the early 50's. Did she design the game? Probably not, but the fact will remain unproven forever.
