2 "The Factory"
After making some exploratory attacks on Campoleone, by the British 1st Division, on February 3rd, the German Fourteenth Army under Schlemm and Herr began their counterattack. Even after being reinforced by the 168th Brigade and the 46th Royal Tank Regiment, the British fell back to the city of Aprilia, which they called "the factory". By the 16th the Germans brought up their Tiger tanks, and the British causalities mounted. They lost a company and was overrun and by the next day had suffered over 200 causalities.

5 Coutances Breakout (Operation Cobra)
Seven weeks after D-Day the Allies began moving through the Cotentin Peninsula. Bradley's troops began moving from St Lo to Coutances. Bradley knew that if his troops swung west through Brittany, they could take vital ports away from the Germans. The ground attack kicked off on July 25th 1944 with the 4th and 6th Armored Divisions. The commander of the 4th was John "P" Wood, the P initial given to mean "professor" as he had taught many of his men at West Point. He marched through a minefield, and into town. Upon seeing a German 88 anti-tank gun in an alley, he called a tank destroyer over to take it out. "Those dang Heinies were holding up the whole war!", he told his staff. Can Coutances be taken, and can the vital crossroads be secured?
