Description Edit | History

It is a team survival game: a type of cooperative game. Players become crew members of a small spaceship scanning dangerous sectors of galaxy. The missions last just 10 minutes (hyperspace jump, sector scan, hyperspace jump back) and the only task the players have is to protect their ship.

On 2 CDs (or Scenario cards if you don't have a CD player available) are ten minutes long soundtracks that represent central computer announcements about the presence of various threats. These vary from space battleships and interceptors to different interstellar monsters and abominations, asteroids or even intruders and malfunctions on the spaceship. Players have to agree who will take care of which task and coordinate their actions (moving around the ship, firing weapons, distributing energy, using battlebots to deal with intruders, launching guided missiles etc.) in real time to defend the ship. Only a well-working team can survive 10 minutes and make the jump back to safety.

The game offers several difficulty levels, huge variability and a unique experience for two to five player teams. One mission lasts only about 30 minutes, including setup and evaluation.

6 Space Alert - Alternate Mission Generator
Mission generator for space alert. Interface is cruder than the Zorba V1.0.2 version; but missions generated are crafted to match the statistical properties of the stock missions. This file is Part 2 of 2 (remaining sound files). Will require a (free) Perl installation to run.

7 SPACE ALERT LOGBOOK
Instructions: Print the first page (cover) on card stock material. After printing, fold the cover sheet in half and set aside. Print the other log pages and fold in half. Print no more than 9 pages for the interior pages. After printing, insert the log pages into the cover sheet and staple. You will need the long-reach stapler or go to your local office store for stapling. Now, armed with a logbook designed specifically for Space Alert! you can record each mission event. After scoring - logging your data on the battle simply placed the booklet with the game. Each time you pull Space Alert! out, your logbook at the ready. I hope you enjoy this booklet! VonEpp

22 Custom Star Trek Player Cards
How about adding some Variable Player Powers to Space Alert? This file contains a document with images of cards depicting the crew of the USS Enterprise. The cards were made with the Magic Set Editor program. One card should be dealt to each player prior to a mission. *Note there are 2 James T Kirk cards, one of them should be removed if the other is dealt. This will make your crew very strong and I recommend taking steps to keep the game challenging. Mix and match some of the following until the game is as tough as you desire: - Draw all threats from the Serious Threat deck - Remove Heroic Action Cards - Begin with fewer Action Cards - Begin with less energy cubes and/or capsules - Begin with one or more damage tiles already on the ship - Threats begin X spaces closer to the ship on the threat trajectory Enjoy!

10 Space Alert CC-sized crew badges
An alternative set of badges, credit-card sized, to clip to the spacesuit. Enter your name into the name field in the middle. As far as applicable I used the colours for the functions as seen in the manual. By popular demand I put all badges in one image file now (300 dpi png). Illustrator CS4 files available on demand (pls send PM). (Note 1: The cadets think that "Clr:EXP" means "cleared for expedition", but of course we know that it means "clearly expendable".) (Note 2: Yes, the grey blob after Space Corps" is intentional- sort of. The cards Space Admin ordered came embarrassingly mis-printed and had to be corrected manually. Oh, the problems of ordering by phone...) (Note 3: No, the ID numbers are not random numbers.)

7 Experience/Rank Log
An excel worksheet (2007 and 97-2003 included). This allows tracking experience and rank calculations to keep track of how experienced all of your players are. You may define your own experience level. See - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/406801 for full discussion of how this is designed to handle experience.
