From the game rules:

Córdoba more than one thousand years ago: the most prosperous city of the age, Jewel of West, Ornament of the World, the City of the Three Cultures, capital of the independent caliphate of Al-Andalus. Culture, Arts and Sciences reached the pinnacle of an era. In creating the most significant landmarks of this old Qurtuba cty, men and women try to leave their mark on history.

Two powers compete for control over the historic city of Córdoba. Which side will prevail?

Components consist of 7 historic landmarks of the city with values 1 to 7, 1 start player tile and 2 sets of 10 cards each with powers 1 to 10.

Both players start with one set of cards and play them alternately next to one of the landmarks.

When all cards have been played, the player with the highest total power next to a landmark controls this landmark. The player with the highest total value of controlled landmarks wins the game.

Córdoba hace algo más de 1000 años: la ciudad más próspera de su era, joya de occidente, ornamento del mundo, ciudad de las tres culturas, capital del califato independiente de al-Andalus. La Cultura, las Artes y las Ciencias alcanzaron el cénit de su tiempo. En los más significativos paisajes de aquella antigua ciudad de Qurtuba, hombres y mujeres dejaron su huella en la historia.

Dos personas compiten por el control de la histórica ciudad de Córdoba. ¿De qué lado caerá la victoria?

Los componentes son 7 fichas de monumentos históricos de la ciudad con valores del 1 al 7, y ficha de jugador inicial y 2 mazos de 10 cartas cada uno con valores del 1 al 10.

Cada persona comienza la partida con un mazo de 10 cartas del mismo dorso, que irán jugando alternativamente junto a cada uno de los lugares históricos.

Cuando se han jugado todas las cartas, quien tenga la suma total más alta en sus cartas junto a un monumento, toma su control.
Quien tenga la suma final de monumentos de más valor, obtendrá la victoria en la partida y en el juego de Córdoba.

CÓRDOBA is a mathematical game set in this historic city's period of splendour, when it was the capital of al-Andalus, from 1300 to 800 years ago. The period was not free from shadows, but they were also years of social and cultural prosperity, with the birth of people with an important impact on Science, Poetry, Medicine, Music, Historic Chronicles, Mathematics, Philosophy, etc.

The characters selected for the card game were largely chosen because of their cultural and social merits, rather than military or religious aspects. Even so, it is difficult to select just 20 characters from Cordoba`s rich history, and many had to be left out. The Omeya Caliphate deck of cards (green backs) show characters who lived when Qurtuba was the political and religious capital of al-Andalus (929-1031). The other deck (white backs) contains characters from the early years of al-Andalus, the Omeya Emirate (756-929) and the turbulent final years, the Taifas kingdoms (1031-1170). The characters in each deck are ordered without reference to real or historic reasons.

Of the many marvels found in Qurtuba, the seven historical settings chosen for the game were those which were not only important at the time, but continue to be particularly significant as historic monuments.

CÓRDOBA es un juego matemático ambientado en la era de esplendor de esta histórica ciudad: Qurtuba, capital de Al-Andalus, hace entre 1300 y 800 años aproximadamente. Fue una época que no estuvo libre de sombras, pero que también supuso años de prosperidad social y cultural. Entonces nacieron y vivieron personas destacadas en Ciencia, Poesía, Medicina, Música, Historia, Matemáticas, Filosofía...

Los personajes elegidos lo han sido principalmente por sus méritos culturales y sociales, dejando de lado aspectos militares o religiosos. Es difícil seleccionar tan sólo 20 personajes de la rica historia cordobesa y muchos han quedado fuera. En el mazo del Califato Omeya (mazo verde) se muestran persobajes cuya vida se desarrolló principalmente cuando Qurtuba era la capital política y religiosa de Al-Andalus (929-1031). El otro mazo (mazo blanco) muestra personajes de la época inicial de Al-Andalus, el Emirato Omeya (756-929) y de la turbulenta época final, los Reinos de Taifas (1031-1170). La ordenación de los personajes en cada mazo no corresponde a motivos reales o históricos.

De las muchas maravillas que existían en Qurtuba, los siete emplazamientos históricos elegidos para las fichas han sido aquellos que siendo relevantes en su época, tienen especial significado como monumentos en la actualidad.

CÓRDOBA es un juego de cartas para dos personas, ambientado en el periodo de máxima gandeza de la histórica ciudad de Córdoba.
