Buffalo Wings is a stand-alone game of tactical air combat over Finland in WWII. It expands the Fighting Wings series of WWII air combat games designed by J.D. Webster and published by Clash of Arms Games.
The aircraft cards and scenarios in Buffalo Wings are fully compatible with the full rules of the Fighting Wings game series.
Ten additional scenarios were published in ATO No.38, Guns of the Askari: Sam Sheikh's Cold Front in the East: Ten New Dogfights for Buffalo Wings
For tactical games that use fine detail in firepower and defense ratings it is easy to use incremental odds that have a 1% resolution. The use of a calculator and the extra d100 roll add less than 10 seconds per combat.
Tables of valid ranges are given for the 3 attitudes in BW and for Tailing. Half horizontal ranges allow for A/C on hex spines to not be 'virtually' moved into the next hex closest to the attacker. Calculated x.5 ranges use the firepower averaged between the adjacent integers.
Cleaned up by removing extraneous material.
This is the latest version of the Fighting Wings Quick Start rules. This is free ware and fully compatible with the Buffalo Wings game cards and scenarios. These rules are more advanced than those in Buffalo wings, introducing angle of bank tracking and maneuvering in the vertical attitude along with additional special maneuvers like the hammerhead. If you have mastered Buffalo Wings - try this set of rules as the next step!
