Description Edit | History

This 18xx game takes the basic mechanics from Tresham's 1829, and adds several new elements. Players seek to make the most money by buying and selling stock in various rail companies located on an map of eastern Canada. The board itself is actually a fairly abstract hexagonal system, with track tiles placed on top of the hexes. Players buy and sell stock in various share companies, whose actions are controlled by the majority stockholder. The stock manipulation aspect of the game is widely-regarded as one of the best. Plus each 18xx title adds new and different elements to the game. This game features the formation of the Canadian National Railroad, and government loans well as major obstacles for railroad growth. A game is finished when the bank runs out of money or one player goes bankrupt, and the player with the greatest personal holdings wins.

13 1856 Player Aid v1.1
My very first player aid (!) made to include all commonly referenced rules for 1856 as well as relevant information for new players. This player aid is meant to be printed doubled sided so everything can be included on only a single page. Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated since this is my first attempt at a player aid.

20 Moderator for 1856 using MS Excel version 1.1
This moderator for 1856 uses MS Excel with VBA and YOU MUST ENABLE MACROS to use this file. Unfortunately this file is unusable with the Macintosh version of Excel. This moderator replaces all components of the game except the map and related pieces, and often cuts game time in half as it automates many rules and calculations. To start press "New Game" button on the first page, throughout the game you interact with this file through buttons and form fields. If an error is found: 1) let me know so I can fix it, 2) you can correct it by directly modifying the data fields on the spreadsheet. I wrote it myself and left the code unprotected, so others may see and modify this file as they wish. v1.10 fixes several errors & improves certain housekeeping functions *fixed error in calculating...
