Description Edit | History

This is a dice game where players attempt to maximize profit by traveling from planet to planet buying and selling different types of goods within a limited time.

The roll of 3 to 5 dice (which can be manipulated to some extent) determines the available goods at the found planet and their level of demand (which basically affects price and maximum buying quantity). Players then decide if they want to sell and/or buy goods there. Also, every action takes time, and how you spend it is very important. Will you spend more time to reach a bigger planet so that the chances of getting cheap cargo will be bigger? or will you travel to smaller planets, hoping to increase the number of trades even though they may be a bit less profitable? Will you try to sell and buy on the same planet to save traveling time, but risk getting a worse deal on one of the transactions? or will you just do one thing, maximizing profit but wasting more time flying through space? Last, will you risk losing your cargo by selling it where it's illegal?

While updated files get approved, these are the links to download the rules which include dice you can print, cut and glue to play the game (note that the rules in the files section are outdated, with an incorrect table and a couple of minor mistakes):

- Rules in English: StarTradersLuck-Rules.pdf
- Rules in Spanish: StarTradersLuck-Rules-es.pdf

If you want to use stickers instead of building your own dice, here are two files:

- For 15mm dice - http://george.makasoft.net/StarTradersLuck-Stickers-15mm.jpg
- For 20mm dice - http://george.makasoft.net/StarTradersLuck-Stickers-20mm.jpg

There is a ZX Spectrum version of the game which can be used to play the game solo or with other human players available from World of Spectrum:

A new expansion is in the works: Pirates and Bounty Hunters. This is the file with the alpha version of the rules and the new dice:

This game is an entry to the Print and Play Dice Game contest

14 Star Trader's Luck Dice and Player Score Tracks
My re-design using some bold graphics a multipath score track to keep track of everything. you'll need cubes from a game like Notre Dame for this.

5 Star Traders Luck score sheets
Two player sheets to use with cubes or other small counters. One version has a credit track and the other does not (assuming poker chips or another method of tracking money is used).

4 Star Trader's Luck Solo in Excel
You can play STL solo without dice, pen, or paper. This will keep track of days left, and what you have paid for your cargo. It will also look up commodities price depending on the market availability. You should be able to play a solo game of 50 days in about 5 minutes or so.

7 Player Sheets (optional)
This file contains 2 player sheets on one page. Print and cut for each player. There's a column to note what cargo was bought (and in which quantity), another to track the price per unit (in case you sell illegally), another to track money and another for time. These last two have two spaces, one to track the changes for the turn and one to track the total after the turn is over. This makes tracking time much easier, as you can just write down each number of days spent as you spend them, and then at the end of your turn add those up with the last total. Of course, these sheets are not actually needed (a blank piece of paper will do fine too), but they are helpful...
