1st edition released in September of 1969 as an envelope full of unmounted counters.
2nd edition released in August of 1971 in three different formats: envelope, a printed white box and SPI's standard black box. Developer on this edition was Bob Champer.
A Colorful replacement map for the old (1969) version of the game.
I simplified the terrain layout (only one terrain type per hex) which I believe makes the map more functional and less confusing to "newbies" (after all this is a great intro to wargaming).
Printed at 100% size the map dimensions are 18" X 22.5" with hexes at 6/10 of an inch.
A nice set of replacement counters for this old warhorse.
I have replaced the 16 Soviet Shock Armies (XXXX..5-9-3) with 16 Soviet Fronts (XXXXX..5-9-3). Being that it takes three Soviet Infantry Armies plus one Soviet Mech Corps to combine in order to produce one 5-9-3, changing them from "Armies" to "Fronts" just seemed more realistic.
I named the 16 "Fronts" as follows:
1st, 2nd, & 3rd BALTIC
1st, 2nd, & 3rd BELORUSSIAN
1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th UKRAINE
CAUCASUS
TRANS-CAUCASUS
DON
CRIMEAN
KALININ
