VEGGIE RUMMY
A 2-4 player rummy game variant
A fun and quick card playing game where the aim is to sell vegetables to the market to cumulate points.
CARDS
4 suits of 10 cards
4 veggie stand to create the market
10 bonus cards

SETUP
use 1 set of cards per 2 players
- Separate the veggie stand cards from the deck and put them in the middle of the table (use only one of each, even if using 2 sets of cards)
- Shuffle all the remaining cards to create the draw deck. Turn a card over on the side of the draw deck (face up) to create the discard pile.
- Each players starts the game with a hand of seven cards (randomly drawn from the draw deck) and a pile of colored score tokens (they have 2 different colored side if playing with 2 decks for 4 colors total)
- The starting player is the person to left of the card dealer

GAMEPLAY
The first player must draw cards. He decides to pick up the first two cards from the draw deck OR the first card one from the discard pile.
The player can then put melds on the table (in front of him) by cumulating a sequence of 3 (or more) cards or 3 (or more) cards of the same number from different suits. (or same suit if playing with 2 decks)
There is 2 wildcards in the game (the greenhouse) that can be played to replace the meld number desired by the player. At any time during a player’s turn, he can swap a veggie card from his hand to take a greenhouse in play if he has the appropriate numbered card to keep the meld intact.
A player can also add veggie cards to complement melds already in play. (Continuing a sequence or adding to a same numbered meld)

When a meld is put into play, the player must put a score token on the appropriate veggie stand (in the middle of the table) has follow:
If the meld is a sequence of the same veggie. Put a bag of gold score token on the SAME veggie stand.
If the meld is from identical number veggies, put a bag of gold score token on the veggie stand of your choice (must be from one of the same veggie cards played in the meld)
For each additional veggie cards played (or added single handily in play) above 3, add a single gold piece score token on the appropriate veggie stand for additional points.
A round ends when a players completely clears out his hand.

Bags and coins token are dropped on the Veggie stand cards and can’t be moved afterwards. This will define the scoring of the game.

MODIFYING THE OUTCOME
If strategically played, the first 3 or last 3 veggies of a suit can greatly modify the score outcome of a round. If a player plays a meld containing the first 3 veggies (1,2 and 3) He puts a rotten token on the appropriate veggie stand) (same if it’s a meld consisting of same numbered) A rotten token SUBSTRACT points from that stand at the end of a round instead of adding them. The player then decides on which veggie stand he wants to put his gold bag token.
The same can be done with the last 3 veggies of a suit (8,9 and 10) that adds a healthy token on the stand (or cancels a rotten token). A healthy token doubles points on that stand at the end of the round.
A fly or fertilizer card can also modify melds already in play to add or lessen points from that meld at the end of the round.

POINTS

Bag of coins: 5 points
Coin: 1 point
At the end of a round, points are calculate by cumulating all your score tokens on each of the veggie stands, AND by adding one point per cards in your melds (in front of you).
Rotten or healthy token modifies points receive from veggie stands. One (or more) rotten token subtract points. One (or more) healthy token doubles points.
Each player’s points are written down for the round and cumulative for subsequent rounds as wanted. Players decide how many rounds they want to play.
Example of play:
Blue player put’s a tomato meld (card 4-5-6) onto the table. He then deposit a bag token of his color on the tomato veggie stand. At that moment, if the game would end, he would have 8 points. (5 for the bag token and 1 for each of the cards in front of him)
It’s then Green players turn and lucky enough, he puts a tomato meld (card 1-2-3) in front of him. Those cards are rotten so the player puts a rotten token on the tomato veggie stand. He then decides to put his gold bag token on the cucumber stand.
Points check-up after both players have played:
Blue: -2 (the 5 pts bag on the tomato stand is subtract because of the rotten token)
Green: 8
