Description Edit | History

In a fantasy world dominated by goblins, when the blood moon rises in the sky, a new war begins and new warlords raise their armies.

GOSU plays like a hybrid of Race for the Galaxy and Magic: The Gathering with each player trying to recruit an army of goblins made up of soldiers, heroes, magicians, and other classes – then swing it into action against the other players. Five clans of goblins are represented on the game cards, with goblins in one of three ranks. To build an army, a player must first recruit level I goblins, then build on those goblins with level II and finally level III. Those higher level goblins can be played only if a lower level goblin is of the same clan, and since goblins of the same clan have similar abilities or powers that mesh well, players tend to specialize in who they recruit to their ranks.

Each turn, a player can play a new goblin, activate a goblin, draw cards, or pass. To activate a goblin or draw cards, players need to spend 1-2 activation tokens, with them having only two at the start of each battle. Many goblins have special powers that come into play when they're recruited, attacked, removed from play, placed with other goblins, and so on.

Once all players have passed, the player with the most powerful army wins the battle. Players keep cards in hand from one battle to the next, so laying out all your forces at once can leave you with little to do but get hit in later battles. The first player to win three battles wins the game.

6 Gosu Rules Summary - broken into 2.5x3.5 inch cards
I wanted a Gosu rules summary that would fit into the card box that I bought for storing my Gosu cards and tokens. Here's my solution. I re-formatted the "Gosu 1-page Rules Summary English" that was uploaded by "kneumann" so that it fits onto 6 double-sided cards. The PDF prints to 8.5"x11" paper. There are two pages (front and back). The front has cut lines for 2.5"x3.5" cards.

20 Gosu Army Placement Aids
I find that the thing that needs to be reiterated the most times is how goblins may be played into the army; I think the confusion comes from the fact that you usually first teach the rank 1, which has significantly different placement rules than the other two. Inspired by the play-aid in this Essen booth photo, the attached aid is intended to be placed alongside the army area of a new player (or just someone who wants a refresher) and contains placement rules for new goblins. Two per page, so print two copies for a full set. Cut each strip around the edges, and score at the marks between cards to fold in a "Z" to easily fit in the game box (or even in a card box if you're using one instead of hauling the whole thing around)....

43 GOSU Supplementary Rules/FAQ (Official Style Booklet)
This is the current version of the tournament/advanced rules (1.1), 2v2 rules and the FAQ for GOSU from moonstergames.com. I wanted them to be in a nicer format for keeping with the game so I formatted them and figured some other people would appreciate not having to duplicate my work. The rules are formatted for printing in the same size and style as the official GOSU rulebook that comes with the game. After actually attempting to print this out I figured out that it works best if you cut the paper to the correct size before printing as otherwise Adobe doesn't line things up correctly. I take no credit for any of the content/art/design.

14 Gosu card list in Excel
I sat down and compiled a complete card list in Excel, to help learn the cards a little better and see if I could find some interesting combos. I did this for myself, but thought others might get some use out of it. If you see any errors, please let me know. The list contains card Name, Clan, Level, Mutation Cost, and card effect descriptions.
