Description Edit | History

Lie, Cheat & Steal is a political simulation in which the players are trying to be elected to public office. Unlike most political simulations, which are based on how elections are supposed to be run, Lie, Cheat & Steal uses true political methods of vote buying, libel and under the table deals to advance to office.

based on the request by skelebone to find uncredited designers, I looked at my copy of the game

it has a copyright of 1971 by Contact Games
on the bottom of the box there is a reference / logo for:

Dynamic Design Industries
1433 N. Central Park
Anaheim, CA 92802

I found no human designer listed anywhere

on the side of the box cover is a logo for Dynamic Games
the logo is similar to the one on the box bottom

Having stumbled upon this website, I would like to identify myself as the designer of this game. My name is Don Wilson and I created the game in 1971 when I was working at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA. Some friends and I hand published and sold the first 1000 copies before Dynamic Design started producing and selling for us. We sold about 250,000 copies in all. I still have 10 or 12 of the original hand-made games if there are any fanatics out there.

Mr/Ms. donlcs,

"I want to believe you. I really do. We're all here on the same boat; what, with life and everything? I find it disheartening in my soul. How can I say this? Well, let me just say it, shall I? I have pictures of you at a pot party. Now, I understand, I do... that you would not want to be recognized at such a place - I commiserate. We're both upstanding citizens. I just need 50 votes to assuage my constituates."

I hope you are one of the creators. My family and my family's friends have grown up and grown around this game! It's been through all of New England, Maryland, Pennsy, Colorado - and over the world with one friend. I have introduced it to Boulder, CO, in the early 90s and blew a bunch of minds more blown than they knew themselves.

This game has been surrounded by said party-types over the world - spilled on, bitched over, hated, loved and hated again. Just this past New Year's (2011), I spent the entire game broke, in jail and on the dreaded Witness Stand - and still had a blast!

All of us devoted players know the true meaning to the game is to have a lot of fun playing a role. Act out and involve your fellow players. Make up a story like I started this post.

It's not just a game, it's a screwing.
