HOW TO PLAY PAMPLONA
AIM OF THE GAME
Each player controls one runner, one bull, and one ox. The runners must try to complete all 4 tracks, trying to run away from the horns and hoofs of their opponents' bulls and oxen.
The player with the highest total score at the end of the fourth track is the winner!
STARTING THE RACE
At the beginning of each track, the players place the herd and then choose their runner's starting square. Bravery tokens are assigned, based on the distance between the runner and the front bull of the herd. Bravery points are converted into victory points - if the runner makes it out of that section!
HOW DO THE BULLS, OXEN AND RUNNERS MOVE?
Once the bulls, oxen and runners are placed on the board, the game turns are as follows: the first on the track moves first, and the others follow. The bulls move according to the bull cards and the oxen move according to the oxen cards. The cards are of values 2 to 5. Runners always move 2.
HOW TO WIN THE VICTORY POINTS
Players win victory points:
- placing his runner in a good position: the closer the runner is to the front bull of the herd, the braver he is and the more bravery points he receives;
- trampling with his oxen an opponent, he receives 1 bravery point;
- goring with his bull an opponent, he receives 2 bravery points.
Players also receive special cards. These cards can give him advantages or be disadvantageous for his opponents. The Beer and San Fermín cards are given once per game, while the others are dealt before each track is played.
