Byzantine Empire (2012)

BYZANTINE EMPIRE is a medieval secret develοpment boardgame.
The players take the role of a byzantine dynasty (they choose to be either one of the provincial military aristocracies of the Comnenid and Phocas families or one of the main secular aristocracy of the Dukes and Angels families) of the 11th century A.D. and chooses 10 cities of the empire that they need to control using the following actions:
Commandment, Diplomacy, Exile, Trade, Garrison, Espionage, and Corruption !!!
The players score in the end of game their victory points based on the dynasty prestige of their cities.
Now it's your opportunity -your destiny- to lead your dynasty to the throne of Constantinople !!!

The salutary year 1025 AD Basil II, emperor of the glorious Macedonian military dynasty dies and the empire has no successor. In Constantinople, representatives from the most important aristocratic families are in dispute for the ring of King, that will inherit the Byzantine throne.
The provincial military aristocracies of Comnenid and Phocas dynasties, juxtaposed with the main urban aristocracy of the Dukes and Angels. It is a futile dispute because everyone wants the throne for himself. Ultimately they decide that the winner will be the one who will be supported by the most wealthy cities of the empire. Every ambitious successor raises the banner of his dynasty and begins the struggle to win the cities that will secure him the throne. The luxurious capitol, Constantinople, will be a neutral observer because the wealth and the population can not be compared with any imperial Greek city.

Το σωτήριο έτος 1025 μ.Χ. ο Βασίλειος Β΄, ο στρατιώτης αυτοκράτωρ της ένδοξης μακεδονικής δυναστείας πεθαίνει και η αυτοκρατορία βρίσκεται χωρίς διάδοχο. Στην Κωνσταντινούπολη οι εκπρόσωποι των σπουδαιότερων αριστοκρατικών οικογενειών ερίζουν για το δαχτυλίδι του βασιλέως που θα τους αναδείξει στον βυζαντινό θρόνο.
Η επαρχιακή στρατιωτική αριστοκρατία των Κομνηνών και των Φωκάδων αντιπαρατίθεται με την κεντρική κοσμική αριστοκρατία των Δουκών και των Αγγέλων. Είναι μια μάταια διαμάχη αφού καθένας επιθυμεί το θρόνο για τον εαυτό του. Τελικά αποφασίζουν ότι νικητής θα είναι αυτός που θα τον στηρίξουν οι πιο πολλές και πλούσιες πόλεις της αυτοκρατορίας. Κάθε φιλόδοξος διάδοχος σηκώνει το λάβαρο της δυναστείας του και ξεκινά να κερδίσει τις πόλεις που θα του εξασφαλίσουν το θρόνο. Η Βασιλεύουσα θα μείνει στον ρόλο του ουδέτερου παρατηρητή αφού ο πλούτος της και η πολυανθρωπία της δε μπορούν να συγκριθούν με καμία πόλη ελληνική ή μη.
