Frank E. Schoonover (1877 - 1972) was a New Jersey-born artist who was known as the "Dean of Delaware Artists." He was an important American illustrator in the same school as Howard Pyle. When he died at age 94, he left behind more than two thousand illustrations.
His painting "Assault on Belleau Wood" is also somewhat famous.
