Elizabeth Thompson, Lady Butler (November 3, 1846 - October 2, 1933) was a British painter and one of the few female painters to achieve fame for historical paintings. She was married to Lieutenant General Sir William Butler who was once the commander-in-chief in South Africa. Her sister was Alice Christiana Gertrude Thompson Meynell, an English poet, writer, and suffragist. Their father was a friend of Charles Dickens
A version of one of her paintings was used as the cover art for the board game Ney vs Wellington. A portion of her painting "Scotland Forever" was used as the cover art for the game Eagles: Waterloo.
