El Greco (1541 - April 7, 1614) was an artist known as a painter, sculptor, and architect of the Spanish Renaissance. The name "El Greco", The Greek, was a nickname and reference to his Greek origin; he normally signed his paintings with his full birth name in Greek letters, Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος (Doménikos Theotokópoulos).
El Greco has been characterized by modern scholars as an artist so individual who does not belongs to a conventional school of art. He is known for his elongated figures and fantastic pigmentation, marrying Byzantine traditions with those of Western painting. His artwork was disdained by immediate generations as his artwork opposed many principles of the early baroque style.
His artwork was used for Fjärran Riken for Eon (2nd edition).
His painting The Assumption of the Virgin was used as one of the art pieces in one of the versions of classic board game Masterpiece.
