Titian, also known as Tiziano Vecelli or Tiziano Vecellio, (c. 1489 - August 27, 1576) was a very famous Italian painter.
His 1548 state portrait "Charles V at Mühlberg" established a new genre called the grand equestrian portrait. This painting steeped in the Roman tradition of equestrian sculpture and the medieval representations of the ideal Christian knight was used as the cover artwork for the game Holy Roman Empire.
