Lucas Cranach the Elder (October 4, 1472 - October 16, 1553) was a German Renaissance artist known for his paintings, woodcuts, and engravings. He was court painter to the Electors of Saxony for most of his career and a close friend of Martin Luther.
His son Lucas Cranach the Younger was also an artist.
His painting Portrait of a Bearded Man was used as one of the art pieces in one of the versions of the classic board game Masterpiece.
