Mort Künstler (born 1931) is an artist known for his American Civil War paintings. He began focusing on Civil War art in the early 1980s. He was previously known for his work with National Geographic magazine where he learned to work with historians to depict history accurately. He provided a painting for the mini-series The Blue and the Gray and Buffalo Soldiers painting for a stamp for the U.S. Postal Service.
His painting "Battle Above the Clouds" was used as the cover art for the game Battle Above the Clouds.
