John Paul Strain

John Paul Strain (born 1955 in born in Nashville, Tennessee) is an artist and Civil War reenactor from Nashville, Tennessee. He is known for his depictions of the American Civil War and the American Frontier. He previously worked as an artist for the U.S. Department of Energy. Over 50 magazine covers have featured his paintings. His paintings have helped raise funds for historical restoration and battlefield preservation.

• His painting "Triumph at Chickamauga" was used as the cover artwork for the game The Army of the Heartland: The Army of Tennessee's Campaigns, 1861-1863.
• His painting "The Road To Front Royal" was used as the cover artwork for the game Shenandoah: Jackson's Valley Campaign.
