Tom Braunlich is a game designer, chess master, writer, and sailor from Oklahoma. He earned a chess rating of 2300 before quitting in the 1980s. In the 1990s, he helped organize or develop major chess events such as the Millennium Chess Festival in Virginia Beach and the Okie Chess Festival in Oklahoma. He is also known for creating the tournament rules for Pente and for designing collectible card games.
