Omar Syed is an Indian-American game designer and computer engineer. After Garry Kasparov's chess defeat by chess computer Deep Blue, he used his training in artificial intelligence to design a game which could be played with a chess set yet would be difficult for computers. His four-year-old son Aamir is credited as a co-designer with the game named after his first name spelled backwards plus an additional "a".
