David S. Neft (born 1936 in New York City) is a game designer, writer, and historian who is best known for writing and creating various sports encyclopedias. He served as chief statistician and later executive vice president for polling company Louis Harris & Associates. When the company was purchased by Gannett in 1985, he became director of research, a position he held until his retirement in 2002.
