Winner of "days of wonder"'s Small World contest in which over 250 aspiring game designers submitted 702 entries to the call for new additions to the Small World board game. Days of Wonder was so pleased with the high quality of the entries that instead of a single prize, the company awarded one Special Prize, 3 Grand Prizes and 9 Secondary Prizes.
The Special Prize went to Laurent Verrier of France whose entry "Tales and Legends of Small World" will be published as a separate expansion in 2010. The three Grand Prize winners, Jorg Krisman of Germany, Paolo Mori of Italy, and Jason Oman of Australia received an all expenses paid trip to Essen. Their entries were combined with elements from the submissions of the nine Secondary Prize winners, to create the two Small World Mini-Expansions that will be available at Essen.
