Matthew Place (Born in Kansas City in 1975)
Matt started as a professional Magic the Gathering Player (World’s Team Champion 1996, Winner of PT Mainz) and was recruited to work at Wizards of the Coast in 2003. He worked as a Magic the Gathering Game designer for 7 years before leaving to take a job at Cryptozoic Entertainment.
Matt worked on the Design or Development team for nearly 20 Magic: The Gathering sets.

Matt also was the Design Lead from Wizards of the Coast for the Duels of the Planeswalker Computer game which originally launched on the Xbox and later on the PC and PS3.
Since starting at Cryptozoic Matt has worked primarily on the World of Warcraft TCG, as well as helping with the design of Several Paper Games, the first of which is the Penny Arcade Deckbuilding Game.
In addition to being the Cryptozoic Bowling Champion (667 points in the 3 game championship) he also is the Lead Designer for the World of Warcraft TCG.
