For more than 3 years now, Christian Fiore has been collaborating with Knut Happel to create boardgames and cardgames.
The two German authors know each other since their youth days and share the enthusiasm for playing and creating games.
Their professions require some characteristics which are useful for designing games as well.
Christian Fiore has an eye for all visual aspects of a game since he has studied communication design. As partner of an advertising agency he knows about the difficulties on the way from concept to finished product.
Knut Happel is used to handling rules as a judge and former prosecutor. As a prosecutor however, his “fellow players” were usually those who did not adhere to the rules, something he does not know from his gaming groups.
Both have quite a different taste in games. Since they develop games almost exclusivly as joint works - Happels "Angkor" (Schmidt Spiele) being the only exception -, a game must have convinced both to be further pursued seriously.
Together, Christian Fiore and Knut Happel are SPIELZIEL (German for: "goal of play").
With their games they want to attract "new players" as well as please "old players" since in order to increase the number of people interested in gaming, it needs games which are easily understood because of simple rules and therefore offer instant fun for less gaming- experienced people. At the same time these games nust have a second level, which does not show immediately, but can be discovered by the more experienced players. And a game must also please visually because the first attraction is usually visual.
Christian Fiore and Knut Happel have the goal to create games for all people who love games. With their published games they believe to have achieved this.
