L. Scott Johnson took on the responsibilities of rules authority for the collectible card game Vampire: The Eternal Struggle when the game was placed on the "inactive" development list at Wizards of the Coast (the game was originally designed by Richard Garfield and published in 1994, and Wizards went on to produce three expansions for it before placing it on the inactive list).
Years later, LSJ began designing expansions when White Wolf reached a licensing agreement with Wizards to publish them, beginning with the Sabbat War expansion in 2000.
