John Poniske (born April 1955, in Springfield, Illinois) is a game designer and teacher who currently resides in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, midway between the Civil War battlefields of Gettysburg and Antietam.
He is an English and Social Studies teacher in an alternative middle school in Hagerstown, Maryland. He has a passion for history, travel and most creative pursuits outside of music as he states that, "He couldn't learn an instrument if his life depended on it."
He regularly attends the World Boardagaming Championships in Lancaster, PA. Contests that he has won at the World Boardgaming Championships include his victory in Afrika Korps in 1991 and We the People in 2004.
