Description Edit | History

Air Umbrella Over Dunkirk is an extension module to the "Down In Flames"-Series - Volume 1: The Rise of the Luftwaffe game by GMT. It is published in RBM's C3i Magazine Nr17.

The British Expeditionary Force was facing total annihilation after the lightning campaign waged by the Germans in France and the Low Countries. Deciding to rest the Panzer divisions, Hitler entrusted Goering's Luftwaffe with the mission of smashing the British evacuation at Dunkirk. The already thinly stretched RAF had to provide an air umbrella to protect the stream of ships plying the English Channel. Although the British lost the equivalent of six squadrons of fighter aircraft plus a large number of ships sunk or damaged they managed to evacuate over 300,000 Allied soldiers, including the bulk of the BEF.
