Kokoda Trail is a 64-page book supplement to the Panzer Grenadier series, focused on the fierce fighting that took place in the Owen Stanley Mountains in 1942. Designer Dave Cheever has crafted 30 new scenarios based on these battles, taking place on two new mapboards with artwork by acclaimed wargame artist Guy Riessen. There are three background articles: Australia's Armies, Japan's Special Naval Landing Forces, and War on New Guinea. The former two include unit organization diagrams.

This module is not playable by itself, but requires ownership of Panzer Grenadier: Afrika Korps; The Desert War and Panzer Grenadier: Semper Fi! Guadalcanal to enjoy all of the scenarios.

Additionally, one scenario requires U.S. Army pieces which can be drawn from either Panzer Grenadier: Battle of the Bulge or Panzer Grenadier: Elsenborn Ridge.
