Description Edit | History

User Summary:

This is the family for the Federation Commander Game. The game was created as a simpler, faster version of Star Fleet Battles. The goal was to design a game that could be played "out of the box" with laminated ship diagram cards, color counters. etc., and that was "clearer, faster, and cleaner" than the games in the Star Fleet Battles Family.

Federation Commander is essentially Star Fleet Battles with easier rules and a faster play time. It is part of the Star Fleet Universe.

Federation Commander: Klingon Border and Federation Commander: Romulan Border are the main base sets. Each is a complete game. The base sets have everything needed to play, including the complete rulebook, laminated ship diagram cards for 16 ships, 1" color counters, 1/2" color counters, double-sided map boards (one side for 1/2" counters, and one side for 1" counters or miniatures), etc.

Amarillo Design Bureau sells products (Klingon Space and Romulan Space) to add the non-duplicated parts of the base sets. IE: If you own Klingon Border, you can buy Romulan Space to get the Ship Cards and Ship Counters included in Romulan Border if you don't want/need another rulebook and/or another set of map boards.

Federation Commander: Academy was desgined as lower-cost introductory product. It includes the complete rulebook, but with only four ship cards, and a paper map. It is provided as a lower-cost alternative to the main base sets to allow customers to determine if they liked the game. If customers like the game, they can buy Federation Commander: Graduation to combine with Academy to get the equivalent of Federation Commander: Klingon Border.

More Information Edit | History

There are several large expansions for the base sets that include more ships, scenarios, rules, and races to the game:

Each of the two (2) main base sets and each of the large expansions have three (3) Booster Sets available. These are small expansions that include laminated ships cards for the base sets and large expansions.

Packs of additional ships and the Omega playtest rules are available via download at e23:
