Zarcana was the first of a group of Looney Pyramids games using cards of various sorts to represent territories in an ever-changing board and using pyramids to represent minions. Each player in turn can grow, move, or spawn his own minions, attack an opponent's minions, or change the nature of the board.
The first two Zarcana-type games used Tarot cards. Subsequent games have used regular playing cards, Uno cards, and Decktet cards.
In some of these games, the territories are worth varying amounts of points and the objective is to end the game with the most points. In others, there is a predefined winning condition--for example, in Zark City, the objective is to control three adjacent territories representing three of a kind or a straight flush.
