Description Edit | History

Nemadji is the original name for Negamco. i.e. 'Ne' is Nemadgi. 'gam' is Game and 'co' is Company. Nemadji was founded in 1959 with the first publication of Clifford Stoltie's Basketball Game. Which today is called Negamco Pro Basketball. The first edition was the NBA(1957-58 season or 1959 edition(?). The game was submitted to Big League Manager Game Co by Stoltie and at first was not accepted by Don Henricksen co owner. Since the other co owner of BLM, Kent had time he decided to do all the work himself with the help of his brother Stanley. The did the work up of the game, printing all the game parts and player cards at a building owned by the family in Duquette Minnesota. About 35 miles south of Duluth where they lived. The game was shipped in a large envelop. The retail price was $1.00. It was so successful that later, Don Henricksen suggested because equipment owned by the Big League Co was used in its production that it would be added to the company. Stanley was made a partner in the Big League Manager Company. So now there were three partners in Big League Manager. Big League Manager produced the Big League Manager Baseball game and the Big League Manager Football Game(the original version).

Later, ABA editions and College editions were added to the editions produced for play with Negamco Basketball. Later in 1959 a game Donald had based on a game he had invented much earlier was also produced, and since the name Nemadji would have no interest to most people the abbreviation of the name was used. Negamco Major League Baseball. Stoltie then submitted Negamco Hockey which was produced starting in 1959 and Negamco Golf. Donald contributed Negamco Football and later Negamco's Pennant Race submitted by another Big League Manager fan was produced. About fifteen years later. Negamco Boxing was added.

At first and for most of Big League Manager's exist the fiction was maintained that there were two companies, when actually there was only one. In the fifties, Big League Manager Game Co with Donald and Kent as owners. In the sixties the partnership's name was changed to the Nemadji Game Co with Donald, Kent, Stanley and later Keith as partners. In 1968 the company was incorporated under the name "The Big League Game Co" and that was the name until 1995. At some point there was a falling out between the shareholders. Keith sold out in 1972 to his older brother Donald and left the employment of the company a few years later. In 1996 the assets of the company were purchased by Kent and Keith and renamed Big League Co.

Big League Game Co produced their last editions in about 1993. In 1996, the successor company attempted to do a few new editions. And they were prepared and printed. In 2002, a Negamco Baseball edition was prepared outside the company based on the 2001 season, but after a handful of copies were sold it was learned errors had been made in the ratings. Those were corrected and a second set of rosters were sent to the buyers free of charge. Then six months later a California fan and purchaser wrote explaining to the company that he had found errors in the Giants ratings. Keith then checked the ratings one by one only to find that almost the entire player list was wrong. Whether the outside person had deliberately sabotaged the edition or had used a faulty computer program is unproven. He swore up and down that he had corrected all the errors. But he obviously was not telling the truth, as upon examination of each players ratings they proved to be incorrect.

Because of that experience, the company has not produced any more edition for any of the games.

All of the games and decades of past editions are still available and being sold by the Big League Co. PO Box 247 Hinckley Mn 55037-0247. atcbigle@scicable.com (320) 384 6235.
