In 2001 White Wolf Publishing reversed its licensing agreement with Wizards of the Coast and began publishing V:TES on their own (White Wolf licensing the game mechanics from Wizards of the Coast rather than Wizards licensing the setting from White Wolf). The release of Final Nights marked the first time themed starter decks were produced for V:TES as opposed to the randomized starter decks released in 1994 and 1995.
