Description Edit | History

From examining the set:

The outside of the box is in German. Alex Randolph's face and name are on the box top. The board is in four parts which fit together without separate clips. Coordinate labels are around all four sides. These labels, as well as the included booklets, follow the more recent convention of A-X left to right, 1-24 top to bottom. Earlier European editions went the other way.

The box includes a plastic insert, a tray for white pieces and a tray for red pieces, a multilingual rules booklet, a booklet of 40 puzzles in German which is still mostly understandable for those who do not speak German, and a tactics & strategy guide in German.

Kosmos later replaced the white pieces with black, although the board still had white and red border rows, and presumably the rules booklet still said white and red.
