2-5 (4, 6). After 3-4 plays of both maps, simply the best release in the series. Best thing to get after you get USA or Europe. Cheap, two awesome maps, names in English, great mechanics... just awesome.

Team Asia has provided me with the best gameplay experiences I've ever had. Josh as a teammate pointed out very particular game styles I never realized I had. Donnie may never forgive me from the time we were a team.

I love partnership games, so I was very excited to see what Alan Moon could do with a partnership version of Ticket to Ride. I'm happy to report that the results are excellent! Trying to figure out what your partner is doing adds another whole level to the gameplay. Sharing half of your train cards with your partner also adds a new wrinkle. In short, I love what this does for the game.

The partnership map can be played with four or six players. The board play is most interesting with six. But if you play with six, you'll want to make sure that you have players that are able to play quickly. Otherwise, stick to four players.

In addition to the "Team Asia" map, this expansion includes the "Legendary Asia" map designed by François Valentyne. It is also very good. The big change on the Legendary Asia map is that whenever you build a mountain route, you set aside one of the trains from your supply. Each of these trains earns two points at the end of the game. This tends to change the game in two ways. First, it accelerates the end of the game, making this map a good choice when you want a quick game. Secondly, the extra two points for the set-aside trains makes the short mountain routes more attractive. It's nice to see a Ticket to Ride map where players are encouraged to fight over some of the shortest routes on the board, rather than go for the long routes.

Played with the Legendary Asia thus far...and love it. I love the new mountain pass mechanic. It makes you really question if the extra two points now are going to be better than the extra train in the long run. Well done.

Amazing addition to an amazing game! The five players map is great, the team map is fantastic too, and both are really beautiful!
But beware..... These maps are not for the weak. The game is quite harder than the U.S. version, and MUCH harder than the European one!

If this map was just the Legendary Asia map I'd rate it around a 6, maybe a 7. It's not that the Legendary Map is bad, it is just not all that unique. The couple of twists they added aren't enough to make it feel like a new game. However flip that board over and you transformed Ticket to Ride into something new, exciting, and spectacular. The basic rules are still there, so it's pretty easy to teach. Partnering up players is so intriguing, because the players are forced to try and communicate in such unusual ways with one another. Yes you can show a few destination cards, but the primary method of communication is more subtle. "OK, I claimed that route, hopefully my partner sees what I'm trying to do." Or "I'll draw red, perhaps she will see where I want her to go." This back and forth is absolutely fascinating to me, and is something I've never really seen outside of partnership trick-taking games. As soon as we're done playing this is one of those experiences where we literally spend half an hour discussing what we were trying to do and where things went right or wrong. As soon as we're done I find myself excited about the next time I can play. Truly a revitalization of the Ticket to Ride series for me.

Worth it for the team play option. It's still Ticket to Ride, but it evokes the same feeling you get from any good parternship game where you aren't allowed to communicate your intentions directly and must speak through your actions alone.

Update: If I'm bumping the base game to 10, Team Asia should go to 11.

The BEST way to play ticket to ride, and arguably the best team-based game I own. I adore the idea of team-based gameplay - it takes the best part of board gaming, social interaction, and uses it to create tension and excitement. That added to an already great game is just gold.

Received in a math trade (1/12/15).

- 2 new maps that completely change the feel of the game...
- The Team Asia map forces you to pay attention to what your teammate is doing so you can help them (you can't discuss/show them your hand/tickets).
- The Legendary Asia map adds mountain routes (you need to spend extra trains to complete them), which can really push the end game.
- the Legendary Asia map also has ferry routes which give added importance to the locomotive cards.

The Team Asia map is truly extraordinary and changes the rules in a fundamental way. It helps if you have a partner that has experience playing the regular game.

The Legendary Asia map is good for a change in map but doesn't offer anything truly game-changing.

I'm happy to play any of the Ticket to Ride series so this gets a top rating from me.

2012 Summer surprise gift for Zack from Julia

The challenging Legendary Asia map with tunnels and ferries along with the 6 player team expansion oriental express themed Asia map makes this a solid purchase. Added bonus components in this box are simple wooden card holders that work for most of our hand management tabletop games as well. I learned the names and locations of cities I had never heard of nor appreciated until after I played this game. I look forward to playing India/Switzerland and Heart of Africa in the coming months if I get the opportunity to do so.

What a great start to the map expansion series. Both maps are terrific and very different. The Legendary map introduces a new strategy, destroying trains, and it's a welcome addition to the family. The map is tightly designed and plays well. The team map, showing predominantly China, is a HUGE winner! So far with my plays with four people the game is very tense and exhilarating. The trick is that some of the information is shared, but not all, so it really makes you think how you want to move and plan. I didn't think the map would play very tight either, but we found ourselves fighting over several spots with no stations to share them. Great expansion! Thanks Jasmine for the Christmas present!

My rating thus far is only for the Legendary Asia map!

This is a tight and fast map that's a lot of fun to play, leading to a game that takes 30 minutes or less. The unique twists in this case are that each player receives a single long route to go with their regular routes. Also, some routes go through mountains, and require a player laying track there to discard one (or more) trains to the train graveyard. This mechanism is what speeds up the game, but the player also scores 2 points for each discarded train, so it's a definite strategy option.

Great fun, and I love the included trays to hold your cards, which I think we'll now use for any TtR map we play!

The Legendary Asia map adds a bit of variety to the standard TtR game, but this expansion really shines with the Team Asia board. We've played quite a few team games now, and the extra tension, (good) frustration, and excitement they add makes this probably my favourite Ticket to Ride to play.

Volume 1 has two faces. Legendary Asia is a fast playing game in which the first hand of tickets primarily decides who will win the game. In this way this Volume is rated 5.
The Team Asia expansion is a trully wonderful new experience of the rich Ticket to Ride family. It is refreshing and breathes new life in this wonderful game that was slowly sinking off my radar because of the many plays it has had. I believe the rules can easily be adapted to the existing maps. In this way this Volume is rated 9.

More Ticket to Ride. Yay.
Now played both versions. Legendary Asia is a fun twist on the original, not spectacularly different but good for the variation. Team Asia is much more different from the basics, and requires you to look at the game in a different way even though it adds a minimal amount of new rules.

5 player game on the Legendary Map - nice new map with shenanigans in the middle of the board! I like the mountain crossing mechanism - a good way to get extra points without playing the extra card, and running your train stock down. A very good addition. Looking forward to the team play when we next have an even number of players.

Asia map is tense and tight and a stack of fun plus the 10 bonus points for most no. connected cities is a small but really nice change. And the mountain sacrifices are tops.

Team play is great! If you like T2R and partnership games ( think of any trick taking game where you have limited knowledge of what your partner is doing) this is a no brainer. Get it.

Legendary Asia's just another map that seems rather cramped, but team play (with the Bridge-like team play communication) really makes TtR into a different animal. One play each, admittedly, so maybe this will change in future plays.

Edit: More plays done (mostly Legendary Asia), and I've come to really like the non-team map too. It's nothing revolutionary, but it's a really excellent map that plays 3-4 with a lot of tension, and cutthroat with five. You'll have a good amount of blocking here! The ferries will make the locomotives just special enough to pick as well.

Two fun additions to Ticket to Ride. Legendary Asia allows another 'standard' avenue for players to explore while Team Asia adds a whole new dimension to the game.

Team Asia is a great way to play Ticket to Ride as not only can it play up to 6, it provides a unique social/ psychological aspect to players where they will agonize over not being able to completely tell their partner what they want done. Very fun and agonizing in not being able to play with each other openly/ optimally.
