Warning: Extremely addictive. This is what Yahtzee was supposed to be!! Fast and fun, you can play a game in 5-10 minutes....and then you'll wanna play another, and another... - Best with 4 players, good with 3, not really for 2. Gametime can be 10-20 minutes for 4, 5-10 for 3, and about 5 for 2. We need to come up with some special 2-player rules.

Fun game, easy to learn, very addictive! I played this with a buddy of mine who owns a comic/game store. We were laughing and having tons of fun, while two other guys were down the table from us setting up Axis and Allies and arguing.

Very fun game. The 1st part is getting the prizes, the next is stop someone else from getting 3 of them.

This is a fun little game that makes you want to play again. It does have similarities with Yahtzee. However, the combinations you're shooting for are a little less interesting, and competition between players is more direct. We play 2-player which makes it imperative that you try to steal a prize from the other player rather than take a new one.

Light dice game. The things that you can get easily...... can go easily.

Jan 2011: Updated from a 7 to an 8. For some reason this is a filler game that I keep returning to. It's got a little bit of greed, a short play time, and pushing your luck elements.

Another straightforward dice game from Knizia. Nothing spectacular inthe design, but it is so clean and simple that it is a fun and quick diversion. As a filler, I appreciate that there are no quirky one-off rules. I'm a sucker for probability games, so my ratings on games like this tend to bias upwards.

Played a prototype at the GAMA Trade show. This looks to be a lot of fun. Having to hold the winning card until the start of your next turn, so folks can try to take it, adds a lot of tension and excitement. Should be a good family game and a good filler game for more serious gamers.

Good. It's an exceedingly simple dice game with a great deal of luck and many of the decisions are fairly obvious. That said, it's quite fun and very quick. There is a bit more to the game than it seems at first, but that's not to say there are great depths to be plumbed here. Deduct 4 points from the rating if you don't like light, luck-heavy dice games.

A very nice, light, breezy filler game of Yahtzee-esque push your luck. This is kinda' what Pickomino should have been. Plays quickly and offers enough push-or-pass to keep it interesting for a few rounds in a row. As an added plus, it's one of the few games the wife will play!! That's worth +.5 in the rating right there!!

This is what To Court the King should have been. It plays very quickly and has more player interaction, as players will go for the prizes held by other players. Short 'n' sweet.

I made my own set with the numbers adjusted to work with normal d6s.

Snappy small box die rolling game from Knizia. Players play Yahtzee like die rolling hands, having to freeze at least one die from a subsequent roll to continue. At any point they may cease rolling and claim a prize (one of nine die rolling combinations on offer) from the table or another player. First to hold three prizes at the *beginning* of their turn wins. Fast, fun, and for what it is, pretty much flawless.

For me personally, this is more enjoyable than Pickomino. It's faster paced (because you have only half as many dice), with quicker turns. The game has the potential to end very quickly or to carry on forever. After a certain point you basically want the game to end, but for a quick filler it's enjoyable.

Excellent dice-based light filler game. The art is funny, and the gameplay can get a bit nasty. It takes 5 to 10 minutes to play a full game, and is worth every second of that. Think Yahtzee with player interaction, and much faster. There is a great balance in the goal cards that give player's lots of options. And there are more decisions than you might expect after initially playing a game. It works best with 3 or 4 players, though. As a 2-player it can end in 3 minutes and one player can easily run away with the game, because there's only one other player trying to stop them.

My wife enjoys this quick little dice game, so we've played it a lot. One gamer in our group dismisses Easy Come Easy Go as complete luck, but he tends to pooh-pooh light games and dismiss them as good only for children. Actually, you have more control over your choices than you realize on first playing. Someone who plays thoughtlessly with no regard for probability will lose repeatedly to anyone who does.

Avoid playing this game with four players unless you allow only two shots at the leader once he or she gains three placards. I still haven't played with only two.

A quick variant of Yatzhee in which you are allowed up to 3 rolls of the 4 dice, however you must "freeze" at least one die to roll again. So this already injects some agony as to which dice combination from a choice of 9 tiles to go for.

Unlike Risk Express whereby you have to select a tile before re-rolling, there is some probability decision making as to increasing your chances of getting a tile.

As in Risk Express there is also the option of 'stealing' a tile if you make the role so this rule raises vested interest in the victim, rather than being a passive spectator so often a problem with die-rolling games.

I still think Risk Express is marginally better as there is a set collecting which locks out any stealing (so there is a weaker sense of infinite die rolling than in EC, EG), and there is some kind of narrative theme provided by the pictorial dice.

But I think I'll still keep EC, EG in reserve as it plays well with 4, I like that the score is visual rather than computational as in Risk and the parent game Yatzhee, and the dice cup provides some drama in the "reveal" like in Bluff.

This game reminds me of Yahtzee of course, but also another game whose name escapes me where you are trying to move certain dice combinations to the end of the scoring track while others are being pushed back. Where's my memory? Easy come, easy go I guess. Anyway, whatever it's called, they're all good, quick fun.

One of the most aptly named games in the market. Roll the 4 dice, freeze some, re-roll. Aim to hit one of 9 target Yahtzee-like combinations. Steal it from someone else. Get 3 combos, you win if no one can steal one from you with 2 attacks. It's Risk Express, but so much faster and better. Turns are quick. True 10 minute opener territory. The danger is, this is so light there's not much point playing.
