This is more of a kids style game, a lot of memory involved. The game, board and bits are really high quality, all very nicely done. Game flows well and we all laugh and make vampire comments. A 4 year old can play it easily. We don't use the rat tokens at all though and the game doesn't seem to suffer at all.***A year later, the kids still bring this one out to play and it has held up well and is still enjoyed.

Holy crap! This game is hard! For a kids memory-style game, this one can't be beat. Excellent, excellent quality, cute graphics (I like the toilet paper roll in one of the crypts, btw). Towards the end, turning over lids was intense - lots of anxiety on my part, I just wanted to bonk my head against the table. Even my husband said that as far as memory games go, this is the best one he's ever played.

I found this game to be lots of fun to play. Mainly because half the time I can hardly remember where I live!

{1 play • 4 players} We had a blast with this one. I'd heard it was all memory, and in theory, if you can play that way then, yeah, you'll probably win in a cake walk. But in practice, we were all just trying to remember a few specific spots... and dang if we just kept messing up, causing much laughter all around. I know part of my enjoyment of this one was us being in the right mood, and also the gorgeously produced board and bits, so I suspect my rating will drop with subsequent plays... but maybe not that far. There is one problem, though: it seems like you're more likely to win by giving away your final vampire on someone else's bad move rather than winning the game on your turn by making a good move. That not only feels wrong, but it encourages the far-too-serious player to vamp (pun intended) when down to his last vampire - just keeping picking the safe-but-wrong casket and wait for someone to hand you the win. Of course, maybe there's a game end rule we got wrong, but you could just as easily prohibit players from giving away their last vampire, forcing them to win on their turn only.

In theory this game sounds pretty dull, but in practice it proves to be a whole lot of fun.

Please note that this rating is based on the fact of what the game is trying to be. It is a kids game, and one with a memory aspect. It is, without a doubt, the most strategic and choice-filled game of that type I have ever played. The theme is rich and enjoyable, and the components top-notch. As a kids memory game, it is almost perfect, and certainly worthy of the title "excellent".

It deserves a 9 or even a 10 when it is played with kids. Renew memory games.

Fun memory game. Not at it's best with two players, however, but works great with four, five or six. I don't use the rats anymore - I don't think they add anything to the game except unnecessary complexity.

Suggest.

One of the best memory-type games ever devised, offering ways to disrupt fellow players which allow for interesting comebacks. Its design is artful, clever, and a joy to behold.

Outstanding childrens's memory game. Heavy use of memory skill makes this a game that kids have a better shot of winning than adults in family settings.

[Children's Game] A memory game with a unique twist. Fun to play with children. The age recommendation on the box is "six and up", which is very suitable, since the game is a little long for a 6-year-old, and the rules and strategies are also a bit demanding.

My tester (age 6) was very successful at opening empty graves, but she did not manage to take her strategy to the next level. That is, trying to open graves that match the vampire colors she already has available. For her younger sister (age 5) the game was way too complex and therefore uninteresting.

Very good component quality, both in terms of graphics and durability.
