Rated as a kid's game. Lots of interesting decisions packed into rather simple rules. Kid-friendly with very attractive bits. Classic HABA.

I've been on this site for 10 years now, and I'm far from sick of games, but I think I am, to some degree, sick of learning too many new games. I'm also tired of playing 4+ hr multiplayer games, but I'll still happily play really long games 2 player.

[16 plays] This is mostly a roll and move game, but a very good one that also has a pick up and deliver mechanic. Players not only move their boat, they also sometimes determine the movement of the lighthouse. There is a slight memory element. There is also the opportunity for minor confrontation as you can bump other boats out of your way which can happen occasionally when playing with more players. The components are top notch, the play time is fast, my 5 year old got the rules easily, and yet there was enough here to entertain us.

Most recent play 7-17-10 with Ruth, Etta, and Orrin.

Nifty roll'n'move game for kids (and adults who love them)... I've actually begun describing this as an introductory "pick up & deliver" game.

Nice Kids game. Great Bits.

Know what? I've had to raise this from a 6 to a 7. This is a neat little kids game. Plus it really looks nice and has a neat toy factor to it with the lighthouse.

AKA Smuggler's Island

I rate children's games according to how excited I am to play them with the appropriately aged child.

HABA games are so expensive, but most of the time well worth it, as this one is: Clever, attractive, quality components, fun to play.

Roll dice to rotate the lighthouse's beam left or right, and move the player's boats which are smuggling goods. If the lighthouse beam captures a boat, the goods are chucked overboard. (Roll & move, pick up & deliver, luck factor, light strategy involving moving & bumping others.) The winner is the one who has delivered the most smuggled good. Easy, well written directions, short playing time.

A variant adds to the re-playability, and extends the playing age.

I own a lot of HABA Children's games--this is immediately one of my favorites.

Components 10/10, lighthouse works great with kids.
Gameplay is very lucky, but that's not always a problem with kids.

--July2008-- Lovely pickup-and-deliver game for youngsters. Some modest possibilities for bashing the neighbours exist - but, for the most part, the setbacks seem reasonably distributed and the penalties are light. My younger (8,6) children were quite amused.

A nice gimmick and theme for a kid's game, the rotating lighthouse, but the rules were just a touch fiddly for young kids (the dropping and picking up of goods when caught) and for older kids the game had nothing of interest, being a simple process of moving from one port to another via dice roll and see who gets caught the least by the luck of the lighthouse and poor luck in your movement. As a result, there was only ever groan factor, no cheer factor - not a good sign in a family game.

This is a simple fun game...for kids!?! As an adult I don't mind playing it! Roll the die, turn the lighthouse and hope the light doesn't cast on your smugglers' boat. Because...yes...you are smuggling jewels and such from island to island!

Kids' game where you pick up goods and deliver them to smuggler's island.

But if you get caught by Lighthouse Luke, the cargo is dumped and you have to go back for more. First one to transport one of every good wins.
